One Step at a Time: Trusting the Process of Growth and Manifestation
Sometimes growth looks slow, quiet, and unseen. Other times it feels like nothing is happening at all. But what if those invisible moments are the ones that matter most? I recently heard a beautiful analogy from astrologer Chani Nicholas that reminded me how deeply our dreams rely on patience, trust, and the invisible work happening beneath the surface.
The Spiderweb of Becoming
Chani was talking about manifestation and how astrology unfolds in real time. So often we imagine what a “positive” astrological transit should bring. For example, a good transit in our 2nd house must mean sudden financial blessings, right?
But she reminded us that things rarely come to fruition overnight. That makes sense when you think about it: we don’t land our dream career the day after we graduate high school. We build toward it, piece by piece, often for years.
She compared this process to a spider weaving its web. Each strand takes time and intention, and while an individual thread might seem trivial at first, every one is essential to the whole. The web wouldn’t exist without each strand being laid down over time. The same is true for the dreams we’re weaving. Every effort, pause, and small act matters, even if it doesn’t yet reveal the bigger picture.
The Foundation Beneath It All
Another way to think about this is through the foundation of a house. The foundation is everything. You could build the most stunning house imaginable, but if the ground beneath it isn’t solid, the beauty won’t last.
We’re no different. The quiet, unseen moments, the times of rest, reflection, or slow growth, are the foundation of what we’re creating. They’re not delays; they’re necessary layers of support that make our dreams sustainable.
The Many Faces of Building
Building your foundation doesn’t always look like progress. One month it might look like deep rest. Another month it might be about connection with friends, family, or community. Some seasons are for healing; others are for joy and play.
Sometimes building means creating, sharing, or taking inspired action. Other times it means pausing, listening, or allowing things to realign. It could look like investing money or like learning to receive. We won’t always know what each week will bring, but it helps to trust the bigger vision, the web being spun in perfect timing.
Moving Forward, Even When It Feels Like Backward
It’s also worth remembering that not every step will feel forward. The phrase “one step forward and two steps back” exists for a reason. In astrology, that’s what retrogrades remind us of: periods of review, reflection, and reworking what we thought we’d already figured out.
Backtracking can be frustrating, but it’s sacred work. Revisiting old lessons allows us to integrate them more deeply, grounding what we’ve learned so it truly becomes part of us. Sometimes the greatest growth happens when we circle back, not because we failed, but because we’re ready to understand something in a new way.
So when you find yourself redoing part of your web, don’t lose heart. That’s part of the divine design. Every thread, even the ones you have to reweave, is part of the masterpiece you’re creating.
Trust the Weaving
Wherever you are in your process, whether you’re laying the first strands of your web, revisiting old ones, or simply resting between stages, trust that it’s all part of the same sacred creation. The dream that’s calling to you is being built one step at a time, and even when you can’t yet see the full picture, every thread is adding strength and beauty to the whole.
